the b-w parkway. at least five cars and vault in the crash after the beltway between 410 and 450. just blocking one left lane on the b-w parkway, but traffic is crawling through that region. 95 southbound, there was a work zone activity between falmouth and fredericksburg still blocking two lanes. very slow southbound 95. northbound 95 still recovering from the earlier accident prior to quantico. lanes open, but still moving quite slowly. traveling on 66 right now no troubles in don't. outbound on the roosevelt bridge police are blocking one lane with activity. so we are seeing minor delays right there. back to you. >> thank you. news from prince george's county this morning, five firefighters and one apartment resident recovering from injuries hills. firefighters rescued several people from the huntley square apartments. john gonzalez has more on the

euro efforts. >> the fire started on a bottom unit and quickly worked its way up. five firefighters are in the hospital this morning, four with minor burns and another with smoke inhalation, after setting a woman's life. four residents of this burning tree story garden style apartments became trapped, the flames too intends to find a way out. when firefighters opened the front door of the units that was on fire, they were greeted by an intense wall of flames. >> they arrived and found a working fire went down the steps, opened the door, and as soon as they opened the door it flashed on them. that's what created the fire going up to the apartment above. >> one firefighter suffered smoke inhalation and exhaustion, a 10-year veteran who ran toward the screams of a frantic woman. prexy founder in a position where she cannot get out. he literally sat with her in the

apartment sharing his air mask, waiting for someone to rescue them. there's no way he was going to get her through the fire if. >> seconds before running out of air, the two were rescued. one resident who was rescued suffering burns on her feet after the fire ripped through the floor. the cause is not known. in temple hills, john gonzalez, abc 7. >> d.c. police investigating the break-in at an elementary school in northwest on thursday between 3:00 p.m. at 11:00 p.m. at raymond elementary school on spring road. they have not told us if anything was taken. no arrests made. >> republican presidential hopefuls hop back on the campaign trail for stop and virginia. romney and ryan kickoff labor day weekend with a brief stop at richmond international airport. there will join george allen and the rest of the gop hopefuls on the november ballot for 2:00 rally. many consider virginia the new ohio which was the key battleground state into thousand eight.

damages and slowly restarting operations. jummy olabanji explains why there may be little help for drivers this holiday weekend. >> good morning. there was a lot going on in the. gulf the. a lot of the refineries and oil rigs now have the power restored. but that does not mean gas prices have not taken a hit. they have gone up nationwide because of what's been going on with the hurricane. the nationwide average for a gallon of gas right now is $3.83. in virginia, $3.70. in maryland, $3.80. in the district, it's already around $4 for a gallon of regular gas. we are paying 25 cents more than just about a month ago. because of the holiday weekend coming up, aaa says more people will be paying more at depaul. 33 million people across the country if expected to go out of town for a holiday weekend. hundreds of thousands of them in

>> the search continues overseas for missing journalists in syria. it is believed the 31-year-old named austin is being held in damascus. his editors and his family have not heard from him in two weeks. the washington post is one of several news outlets that he's been filing stories for. the state department is investigating his disappearance. >> federal authorities and local police shut down a brothel on grand avenue in manassas. eight people are being held without bond. the house is right across the street from bennett elementary school. prince william county police arrested the suspects working with fbi, homeland security, and customs agents. the suspects are accused of either being prostitutes helping them, or frequenting the house. parents and kids at the school are shocked. >> we had no clue at all. is surprising. this is a really nice

suffering from a four of them from minor burns. one of them suffering from smoke inhalation and exhaustion after he heard a woman crying in and upstairs unit here he ran for her. she was trapped in apartment. he could not get her out. he conducted out. there were running out of air. there were rescued. fire started on the bottom floor and quickly spread upstairs. the call still -- because it still on known. in number of people had to be rescued. a resident is also in the hospital. we understand she was burned on her feet after the fire ripped through the ceiling of the bottom unit and worked its way up to her apartment. again, the cause is still unknown. reporting live, john gonzalez, abc 7 news. >> we have some sadness to share with you from the abc news
